Good Newz... I Haz It!

Did you ever have one of those days? You know, where even the dog looks at you like she hates you?

Yeah, one of those days.

That was how my Wednesday started. We've been running crazy with the Girl, readying her for her spring break trip to visit Grandma and Pop (how's this for a kicker? The Girl's not only going to Florida for ten days, but her grandparents are taking her on a cruise! She'll spend a day in Grand Cayman, and one in Cozumel. Jealousy. I haz it.) and it was just a rotten day. I was never so glad to get to the gym to work out a little aggression.

But anyway, I come home and check my email. And what do I find???

*insert suspenseful music here*

In January, I submitted a manuscript to Aspen Mountain Press, by invitation from one of their editors. They are opening a new imprint - Aurora Regency - and since she knows I write Regency-set historicals (among other historical sub-genres) - she asked to see it.

Long story short, the manuscript was rejected on the basis that it wasn't a true Regency (I write far too steamy for "true" Regencies, which generally are more sweet than sensual) and it wasn't set in England. Ah, well. Win some, lose some.

Well, I come home from the gym, as I said, and find an email from the same editor, explaining that she spoke to the EIC about expanding the Aurora Regency imprint to include time periods from the American Revolution through the Civil War. The EIC agreed and, lo and behold, I had an offer of publication. Needless to say, my crappy day did a total 180.

W00t!

I'm really looking forward to this opportunity to work with Aspen Mountain - and really, how many people can say an imprint was expanded specifically to include their book? Booyah! I can. :D

Right now, The Pursuit, which is an historical romantic suspense, is slated for release on July 21, 2010. I'm still finalizing the paperwork and all, but I should have a cover soon and then let the fun begin!

And I can't wait!
