World Autism Awareness Day

Autism affects 1 in 110 children. 1 in 70 are boys. April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day. My husband and I are in the process of having our son evaluated to see if he is that one in seventy (a long, slow tedious process that has included a year's worth of occupational, speech, and developmental therapy, and two years in a preschool designed especially for children with special needs.. Needless to say, this is a cause that is near and dear to me. It puts such a strain on the child, on the family, on everyone around. And since April is Autism Awareness Month, it's a chance for those who've never had to deal with this to see what autism is about.
