Where did spring go?
Oh, that's right - it hasn't shown up yet.
Okay, we didn't get the foot of snow, which is kind of a bummer. I'd have liked to have one good snowstorm this winter. Just one and I would've been happy. But no. The weather gods are laughing like loons over the fact that, once again, NJ is being pelted by sleet. Sleet. What the #$^@ is that about? I've seen maybe four snowflakes all day. Rats.
Now, don't get me wrong. Yes, I want spring and I want warm, yadda, yadda, yadda. But if I can't have that then I want snow. I want to take my kids out and build a snowman. I want to pull my son in a sled and see the look of pure joy (mixed with a bit of horror because, hey, this stuff's cold!) on his little red-cheeked face. I want to see my dog run like a maniac all over the place trying to bite and kill the snow because, though she likes playing in it, she hates getting her feet wet. I want to make snow angels and have a snowball fight and all that other fun stuff that makes me glad I (have) to live here.
You can't play in sleet! You can't even walk in it right now. There's a nice thick icy coating on top that makes my front porch a death trap and I don't even want to think about the back deck. Horrible. Sucky. Sleet.
And it's supposed to keep doing this through the night, so tomorrow there will be four inches of ice everywhere. I'll do a one and a half with a twist off the deck tomorrow when I have to walk the dog. Great. Hope the judges are generous.
Ah well, what can you do. Spring has to come eventually.
