Guilty Pleasures

I haz them.

Earlier this summer, the Girl got me into watching Cartoon Network's Total Drama World Tour. And now, I am hooked. I love this show, so don't call me on Mondays, between 9-9:30PM EDT, because I am soooo not answering the phone.

For those of you who have lives and don't watch cartoons (although I think a good cartoon is worth its weight in gold,) here's a little background history - Total Drama Island was the first season and it was a group of Canadian teenagers on a reality show that took place at a rundown summer camp. The Girl has this season on DVD, and we're working our way through it as well. (Well, I'm working my way through - she's seen it and is watching it with me. We're bonding. It's nice.) It's like Survivor, cartoon-style, with reward-and/or-elimination challenges. At the end, marshmallows are handed out. If you don't get one, you're out.

Total Drama Action is the second season (same characters, AFAIK, with a few new ones thrown in.) I haven't seen any of this one yet, but you can bet when it's available on DVD, we will have it.

Total Drama World Tour is the third season (also same characters, with a few new thrown in) and they're traveling all over the world. Some of the episodes are laugh out loud kind of funny, and it's been a lot of fun watching it with the Girl. That's the important thing.

I also watch iCarly on occasion - because it's truly funny. It isn't dumbed down for tweens (unlike some shows on another certain network, which make me want to poke forks in my eyes because the writing is beyond stupid.) Nickelodeon doesn't do that, they have gifted writers who can write funny (as opposed to writing boring-predictable-stupid-as-funny.)

So there you have it - some of my guilty pleasures. I have musical ones as well, but that's a post for another time. :D

Now... 'fess up. What're some of your guilty pleasures???

I don't have any tv guilty pleasures since I watch so little tv.

But I do love watching movie musicals even though I'm the only one who will watch them.

Oh Kim, I have some of the same guilty pleasures. I love iCarly and Total Drama.

I love reality competition shows like Project Runway and Top Chef. One day you're in, and the next, you're out. Please pack your knives and go, Soccer Mom.

Tim Gunn is my hero. I can hear him in my head when I'm trying to make a scene work. :D

I really like the bits they do for the webshow on iCarly, but the B-material around it? Not so much. It's pretty hit-or-miss for me, but I do think Sam and Spencer are hilarious no matter what.

@Marguerite: every time Tim walks into the workroom, I expect him to co-opt one of my favorite movie lines: "Hello, designers. I've just come to tell you how fabulous I am."
